I have heard about programs that work with children with disabilities and marine and other types of animals. Can you give me the addresses of some of these groups as I am interested in an internship with them.

Animals are involved with helping people more and more — from assistance animals (dogs, monkeys) for the physical handicapped to those used in therapy for mentally handicapped (dolphins, horses). Canine Companions for Independence provides assistance dogs to people in need (Santa Rosa, CA is the national office). For other such programs, look for a dolphin program in Marathon, FL; monkeys in Boston, MA; and horses in San Francisco! (Sorry we don't have more specifics on these!)
