What is it like to work with Jack Hanna?

Well, I have to tell you that I've been in this business a long time and the team that we have that shoots this program has the best time that we've ever had in our lives. We go to the best locations and the person who is getting us there is Jack. His personality is one of a kind and it really doesn't matter where we go. It could be a great place or a not so great place.

The thing about Jack that is so wonderful is his sense of humor. He'll be the first to admit that he may not know everything there is to know about animals. But, he has a way about him and the way he goes about things is entertaining. It makes people want to listen to what he's saying, or what's going on to follow our show. And when you've got somebody listening or watching, then you've got the opportunity to teach them something. Jack is a consummate package of humor, entertainment and knowledge. He's not someone who's hitting you over the head with boring dry facts.

He has a way of going about things that is totally unique. He brings a smile to your face. He's a very generous person. He makes all of us on the crew feel like we're part of his family and we just have a great communication and feeling of warmth among all of us and I think one of the things that I feel most about what we do.

OK, Jack is a character but when we generally leave a story and head out on our way, people are kind of sorry to see us go because it's also brought a smile to their face. They've really enjoyed it and they say, other crews have been here and they weren't like you guys. It's a compliment. This is a great experience and I certainly have seen a lot more of the world than I ever thought I would because of him. We look forward to each adventure and they keep getting better and better. It's a great big world out there and I feel like we're only just getting started.

Speaking of the great big world, do you have a favorite location shoot? Is it possible to name a favorite?

That's a hard one. It seems like we go to Botswana and I say that's my new favorite place because there are no people and a lot of animals. Then you go to Australia and that's my new favorite place because the people that are there - and there's not a lot of them, have such a unique way. You will not meet any other people, I think, with a sense of humor like Australians. And on top of that you've got all of these crazy animals that they have over there, marsupials - all of the animals that roam that landscape.

Then you come to Alaska and this could be your new favorite place. Certainly, it's the most spectacular landscape anywhere in the world. I think what I like about what I'm doing is that I have the opportunity to experience true wilderness from being in the places that we go. And that is such a special offering to be presented - especially in this day and time.

But, you have to be able to appreciate that and I certainly do. I'm from the state of Florida. I was born there and I've seen what growth and development does to a place. I truly appreciate a place of wilderness and seeing the animals that I've at one point dreamed about seeing. I have a real keen interest and I feel a personal connection with nature so it's just a dream come true to go to all of these places that we go. In that sense, they're all my favorite places.
