Day
13, Jack's Camp - A few days prior to our arrival, this baby
zebra followed a vehicle back to camp. Its mother was presumed dead.
Reintroduction to a nearby herd failed repeatedly and the zebra
adopted a female staff member as its new mom.
Maji
will stay at Jack's Camp until a suitable reserve can be identified.
Dr.
Nick helped treat the ailing zebra during our stay.

Day 3 at Jack's Camp, Maji was feeling pretty good and helped himself
to yogurt at breakfast.
Here
is our tent at Jack's Camp.
Here is the skink that lived on our tent at Jack's Camp. He is,
perhaps, not as big as he looks - maybe 10" long or so.

The
vehicles in the Kalahari were more suited to protecting us from
the hot sun than those in the Delta.

day in the Kalahari.

Ever
dig up worms? For this bushman, finding scorpions in the ground
is just as easy. After identifying a small scorpion hole, he would
use a blade of grass to follow the turns as he dug deeper. After
about five times doing this, he pulled out the scorpion.
There
weren't any takers to hold him.

Here
we are - myself, Jack's photographer, Rick; producer J.R; and site
illustrator, Kevin, wishing it wasn't about to end.
That's
our trip to Africa. I hope you enjoyed reading about it.
If
you happen to run into Jack, please tell him that he should always
travel abroad with his internet team!
