Behind the Scenes
I couldn't put this journal online without saying a bit about the Animal Adventures production crew. What a task they face every day! Consider what they're up against: the complexity of getting all of their equipment on location, finding the animals in the first place - and then being in the right position to capture the images without making their presence known.

One day, I was out with Jack's crew and we were patiently watching as a cheetah stalked an impala. Needless to say, by the time the cheetah did take a run after the impala, the sun had almost completely set thus making filming undesirable. What's a cameraman to do?

Chasing animals takes a bit longer when you have to turn the car on and off for each shot to avoid shaky cam.

In the case of the darted Roan at Sable Ranch, filming was made more exciting due to the variable of not knowing exactly where the animal would end up when the tranquilizer took full effect.

While transporting this Roan on a crowded truck, a bit of thrashing around by the animal knocked one of the cameras against the truck, damaging it and the boom microphone.
